About Nathaniel Pergamit

Working with professional historians in San Francisco, I cataloged over 1,200 pieces of antique music and concert programs from the Golden Gate Park Concert Band. I then transformed the hard data I had collected into a tale of how our city changed across the twentieth century. Still, I am prouder of how I was able to communicate those ideas to audiences well beyond my peers. My oratory was so compelling to the panel of non-musician judges, that I earned the second-place award at the San Jose State University 2022 Grad Slam contest. Since completing my master’s degree in May 2022, I dove headfirst into the world of arts administration and have not looked back once. I brought with me a wealth of experience that can only be gained by the discipline of academia and the practical lessons of being a working musician. My current role as the Chorus Manager of the Ragazzi Boys Chorus has not only tested these skills but has forced me to improve upon them and find new ways that they can be utilized. Since I started, I have made administrative processes more efficient, scheduled large scale auditions and evaluations, and improved relationships and volunteerism among our constituents. I am often lauded for my ability to communicate complex ideas and “manage up” my supervisors in order to keep our administration on track and meet our deadlines for both the short- and long-term projects. I have also taken on the role of doing DEI research and presenting my findings to our Executive and Artistic Director, which has helped them craft policy to make our organization a better place for students of all backgrounds.
