About Nathaniel Ward

5 years experience teaching middle school (grades 6-9) flex band ensembles. MA in English, lifetime of guitar study, decade and a half as a bike racer. Over 20 years experience as a working musician. Guitar and bass session player, diverse recording credits. I've taught everything from middle school music to college English to group music theory workshops for adults to bike racing clinics. I love working with people in a learning environment. Also have a background in content curation and acquisition editorial work for cycling magazine/website. I'm primarily a guitar player and teacher, and I work around North Carolina playing Jazz, Funk, and R&B. That is of course when I’m not teaching my middle schoolers, and I love teaching middle schoolers! Double on drums and trumpet in a pinch. I also have 15 years experience racing bicycles, working with a coach, studying physiology and periodization for endurance sports, and working on understanding the most important aspects of the coaching relationship. 5 years experience of working as a coach, myself. Life long rock climber.
