About Naveed Gulzar

With over a decade pursuing scientific endeavours, a passion for research and discovery has been instilled upon me. These pursuits have demonstrated to me the value in using multidisciplinary, fact-based decision making, and team-building approaches to translate research activities and solve the problems we face today. Supported by over 10 years of training and professional experience in industry and academic settings, I have successfully managed and developed a number of large-scale, multidisciplinary projects from start to completion. These activities included the engagement, recruitment and collaboration with stakeholders across diverse disciplines and backgrounds (research, clinical, community, government, industry) to develop research initiatives. The success of such activities has been dependent upon my expertise as a researcher, and my skills in program/project management. I thrive in fast-paced environments, with changing complexity, and working in a collaborative setting to address issues and problems. I possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak across backgrounds and disciplines, and the ability to explain complex concepts and principles in a simplified manner with clarity. My leadership style and results emphasize strategic thinking, collaboration, flexibility and innovation, with the goal of building collaborative partnerships, and ensuring all voices are heard, and organizational objectives are met. Expertise: project management (received training certificate from British Columbia Institute of Technology), research, strategic planning, team building, facilitation of research activities (i.e. sourcing of funds, grant writing, reporting, etc.)
