I pride myself in people management, both at work and outside of the corporate environment. At Xero, I manage a high performing team of Data Reliability Engineers including their career development and ongoing training. I also work alongside Product Management and fellow People Leads to drive team initiatives to enable the success of the group as a whole by assisting with implementing and customising practices that are appropriate at Xero and also by utilising personal technical experience and expertise to help coach, develop and grow the engineers. As Amplitudo’s Product Operations Manager, I had close to 60 combined direct and dotted-line reports, all of various seniority levels, contract or permanent, and all within multiple Amplitudo verticals (Delivery, Product, Design, Marketing, HR, Admin & Legal). I have experienced and directly influenced the company expansion, doubling the peer headcount while sustaining the return on capital employed (ROCE) for the FY19/20. At Trade Me Auckland, I have helped grow our Commercial unit, having held 100+ interviews, performance reviews, presented at various seminars and conferences, and made sure each individual is treated as such. Trade Me is unique in regards to what engineers main responsibilities are. We were all quality advocates, involved mainly in driving the quality of our product through DevOps delivery framework. The process is fairly complex, which puts us in the driving seat with what gets delivered. I have led the New Zealand U17 Basketball Team as Head Coach to a silver medal in a FIBA Oceania [Continental] competition, and have also been involved as a player, coach and Director of Basketball Operations in amateur, professional, and collegiate level for a number of years. I have dealt with players, coaches, investors, supporting staff, parents, media, fans, etc. I have worked with Executives, General Managers, HODs, and other Business Managers, discussing and determining the best approach for product roadmaps ensuring speedy, accurate and quality enriched product delivery.
