About Neda Razaz

I am a perinatal and pediatric epidemiologist with over a decade of research experience in Canada and Sweden, specializing in the maternal and child health. My research interests in perinatal and reproductive epidemiology focus on enhancing our understanding of early-life risk factors and the chain of events leading to neurodevelopmental, often life-long disorders—knowledge essential for primary prevention. I have a broad background in epidemiology, with specific training and expertise in perinatal epidemiology using health administrative databases in Canada and Sweden. Currently, I serve as an Associate Professor and Team Leader in the Reproductive Epidemiology Group within the Clinical Epidemiology Division, Department of Medicine Solna, Karolinska Institutet. My research focuses on three key areas: a) Understanding the role of maternal and paternal chronic illness during pregnancy and medication use on neurodevelopmental outcomes in offspring; b) Investigating neonatal interventions that influence the risk of neurodevelopmental and cardiovascular outcomes in childhood and early adulthood, c) Examining the impact of severe maternal and neonatal morbidity on long-term health outcomes in women and their offspring. My work, supported by large-scale birth cohorts and long-term follow-up data, has significantly advanced our understanding of the complex interactions between parental health, neonatal care, and long-term outcomes.
