About Neil Chambers

In 2006, Guernica Magazine called Neil a “Green design guru at the forefront of a new movement to make urban centers like New York City environmentally sustainable.” For the last two years, Neil has served as the CEO and President of Chambers Design, Inc. The design company focused on ecological design with projects ranging from city/master planning, architecture, consulting and renewable energy technologies. His work includes more than 3.3 million square feet of green building space within New York City and around the world. He has been involved with shaping environmental policy, advising elected officials on effective ways to create environmental change. He is an adjunct professor at New York University where he teaches green design and environmental policy in the Gallatin School of Individualized Studies. Neil is the founder of Green Ground Zero and the primary force in establishing the organization's international presence. As the director of GGZ, Neil has given talks throughout the US, Europe and Asia. He is the host of Built Green TV, a television/webcast series that brings experts within the green industries to have in-depth, spirited conversation about the past, present and future of environmental subjects. In September 2006, Chambers Design merged with two other companies to expand their scope and commitment to architecture. He now serves as the Sustainable Director, overseeing the integration of green design into over 30 projects with a staff of more than 40 people. The new company has offices in South Carolina, Detroit and NYC.
