About Neil Middleton

I am a highly motivated problem solver and decision-maker with nearly 50 years of experience in the media industry, currently serving as President and CEO of Forcht Broadcasting Radio & Digital. I assumed this new role on December 16, completing my full circle in broadcasting by returning to my radio roots — where I began my career as a DJ before working through news, sales, and station leadership. I am thankful to work for a local company dedicated to serving local clients and listeners. My philosophy is one of servant leadership — helping others is my passion. I have a proven track record of identifying and developing talent and thrive on helping people achieve their personal and professional goals. Throughout my career, I’ve utilized my leadership skills and sales experience to implement significant upgrades, grow profit margins, expand news coverage, and develop digital strategies. At WYMT, I led our team to win the station’s first Emmy and Telly Awards. Our newscast was voted Best Newscast in Kentucky multiple times by the Associated Press, and WYMT.com was named Best Website in Kentucky several times. Our journalists have earned numerous individual awards from both the AP and the Kentucky Broadcasters Association. At WVLT, our management team successfully implemented a turnaround strategy resulting in record-low expenses, record-high revenue, and the highest news ratings in the station’s 50-year history. Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Stephanie, cheering on the UK Wildcats, and cooking on my Big Green Eggs. I am proud to serve on the following boards: Alice Lloyd College, One East Kentucky, One Harlan County, East Kentucky Leadership Foundation, Kentucky Wildlands, Harlan Independent Schools Education Foundation, and the Laurel County Center for Innovation PAC Advisory Board. Past board service includes The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky, The Center for Rural Development, the Young Professionals of East Kentucky Advisory Board, and the Kentucky Associated Press.
