About Neil Patience

A Registered Architect with over 25 years post-qualification experience I have good all-round skills. Significant experience in Educational Sectors, I have undertaken ‘client-side’ and ‘contractor-side’ roles in both the public and private sectors. A good team player, with management experience, I am also a motivated individual. Throughout my career I have always maintained a ‘hands-on’ approach to design yet also enjoy mentoring others leading to significant development in others. Leading projects from inception through to final delivery on site I wish to continue developing my skills into the future. Latterly employed as a Design Manager, at a national Design and Build Contractor, this has given me significant additional experience regarding the complexity of delivery (and associated costs), experiences which enhances my understanding going forwards should my future role be ‘client’ or ‘contractor’ side. I believe architecture to be the art of delivering environments that please whilst satisfying the client’s brief in practical and financial terms. The architect should provide added value, when not expected, through interrogation of the brief and a constant questioning of the solution. A firm believer of Vitruvius’s principals of ‘commodity’, ‘firmness’, and ‘delight’ I aim to deliver projects that are on time, in budget, satisfy the needs of the client yet give a sense of pleasure obvious to all.
