About Neil Ryan

An engineer of 20 years’ experience across a diverse range of technological fields (telecommunications, biomedical applications), I am currently employed in the role of Senior Manager, Photonics IC Software Design at II-VI. I possess a considerable level of photonics/optoelectronics expertise from over a decade working with end-to-end optical transmission and interrogation/sensing technologies, with an emphasis on tunable lasers. I have contributed at all levels of NPI (New Product Introduction), from design, prototyping and test development through to helping define the outsourced CM (Contract Manufacturing) strategy. I am also highly skilled in the design of algorithms for the purpose of automating the extraction and processing of complex, multi-variate signal/system data, complemented by a firm grasp of digital signal (DSP) and image processing theory. Experienced in project management and mentorship as well as report writing/documentation and presentation, I am an excellent communicator and thorough worker who always maintains focus and follows tasks through to completion, ensuring proper delivery of outputs in line with initial requirements.
