About Nella Antillo

Outstanding Leadership in Education award finalist, Dubai, 2022, I am a certified teacher in the Science of Exercise, Physical Education/Sports, with a Master’s degree in Education. Also a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy practitioner certificate, my top signature strengths are fairness, perseverance, judgment, and social intelligence. A positive team player, I succeed at working independently, yet I enjoy working in synergy with colleagues. As a lifelong learner and former Volleyball player, I have developed substantial expertise in Athletic Programs, the Core Curriculum, Sports Science, Curriculum Design, and Critical Thinking. My holistic, student-centered philosophy and personalized instructional program focus on noticing and engaging each learner while reinforcing a cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional balance along with ethical values that allow them to work efficiently with others, face change with an open mind, and be influential in decision-making. I effectively teach by providing more opportunities for students to experience success and by adapting my teaching methods to those of the school to support student progress and meet the school’s students learning outcomes. I am a passionate MS/HS Head Vb coach. I help students build character through the sport, and to develop a happy yet strong mind so they can deal with change, do not fear failure, embrace challenges instead, and weigh their options in decision-making. My preferred quote: “Rise to the challenge of becoming the best that you can be” Some main achievements that I have had in my current position are- I developed a 9-12 PE program that includes performance tasks, healthy fitness standards/data analysis, incorporates technology using an E-Fitness Notebook that learners keep throughout HS, 9-12th, to record their fitness data history, set individual fitness goals, monitor and reflect on their performance, and take ownership of their outcomes- In 4 years, I built a strong HS Volleyball program that kept students motivated and engaged despite the pandemic. Varsity and JV athletes demonstrated outstanding results in 2022 events- Re-started the Athletic Program upon our return to in-school instruction.
