About Nelson Vazquez

After 10 years in law enforcement on the State and Federal level, Nelson joined the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in 1995 as the first Special Investigations Unit (SIU) ever in the Cincinnati, OH Personal Market Claims office. In this capacity, Nelson was responsible for handling all suspicious claims that were submitted in Ohio and Kentucky, as well as training the front line claims teams on fraud awareness. He worked in this capacity until late, 1997. For the next 20 years, Nelson made career stops as a Technical Trainer in Liberty Mutual’s Personal Market Claims Education Department, Internal Auditor for the Company’s Latin America Division, Branch Office Claims Manager in Minneapolis, New England Region Personal Lines SIU Manager, SIU Director for the company's Personal Insurance business unit, and as Director of Property Claims where he was responsible for the Personal Insurance Fire Investigation Unit (FIU) and Liberty Mutual’s National Catastrophe SIU operation. In 2017, Nelson joined Aflac Insurance in Columbus, GA and assumed his current position as Director of the Special Investigation Unit. His unit is responsible for all anti-fraud activity targeted against the organization in the U.S. Nelson earned his undergraduate degree in Communications from Shepherd (WV) University in 1986 and his MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix in 2007. Nelson and his wife of 31 years, Barbara, have raised four great children, Victoria (29), Taylor (26), Anthony (24), and Sophia (21).
