About Nerissa Angwin

I am an experienced contemporary educator with a range of experience in varying levels of responsibility. My passion is working with young people who may struggle to fit into the constraints of mainstream education. As a resourceful and resilient person, capable of assessing and taking risks when needed, I find tough and challenging activities exciting and I can be relied upon to get things done on time, and with an exceptional level of quality. I am comfortable with uncertainty, as I think creatively, strategically, and decisively. My observation of the needs and requirements of the students, staff and the school community demonstrate my ability to approach all work situations with an objective and open-minded attitude, ensuring I am approachable and compassionate, drawing on my ability to be assertive when required. Others look to me for advice, and I view myself as both a positive role model and mentor. I have a high level of interest and talent in behaviour management and psychology. This allows me to develop sound relationships with all members of the school community, from students to parents and staff. I have an excellent grasp of my personal strengths and I employ strategies and practices to identify and grow my expertise. It is my belief that we are life-long learners, and I am excited by the challenges and responsibility that life presents. My passion is working with people. This passion has lead me to embark on a new journey of youth counselling. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Counselling at ECU. Due for completion early 2024.
