About Nesdon Booth

I am generally a generalist, which generally implies a dilettante, though I generally don’t think of myself that way. An obsessive lifelong quest to understand everything, to answer every question, to shine a light into every corner, has left me with more stuff packed in my head than I know what to do with. I have dug in deeply and obsessively until I fully fathom the essence, and then moved on to more fertile ground. A Jack of all trades perhaps, but finally, for me, a master of most. This reaping of diverse knowledge and experience that I have so painstaking pursued may be judged as just so much trivia sometimes, but there is a genuine and emergent value to generalism - ideas cross-pollinate. Things that seem wholly unrelated on the surface can share common underlying patterns and processes; problems or questions arising in one discipline are often surprisingly informed by solutions or concepts from another. I amaze myself when I find some novel and elegant solution come bubbling up from who knows where, and while I always light up when someone goes all agape at the brilliance of one of my solutions, I can’t always tell if it’s their ineptitude or my eptitude, usually some of each, but this late manifestation of genius has become the greatest gift of the advancing years of a highly examined life.
