I am a PhD Candidate with a long-standing passion for mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell! My thesis project primarily focuses on utilizing this state-of-the-art Long-read Sequencing to uncover the genetic architecture of Early-Onset Parkinson’s Disease. Beyond my dissertation, I am developing a high-throughput workflow to quantitatively measure mitochondrial DNA heteroplasmy at various diseases stage and duration, enabling precise assessment of variation levels and rapid variant detection. Ultimately, I hope to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic interventions for incurable mitochondrial-related disorders.
