About Niamh Connell

BSc. in Human & Animal Toxicology from Athlone Institute of Technology. Over 8 years experience in a cGMP laboratory performing a wide range of testing/review of methods such as FRET (ELISA), HPLC, UPLC, icIEF, CE and compendial testing methods. Experience in method development, feasibility and validation (i.e, CE and UPLC) alongside method updates and change controls. Through the last 7 years I have gained valuable experience with investigation and quality event writing i.e. QE’s, Deviations and RCA’s. Completed lab trainer course and supported/trained other analysts in a variety of techniques such as CE, UPLC, ELISA and many compendial methods. Over 4 years performing QC reviewing of lab experiments (Compendial and Empower/final reports/investigations/method updates, training notebooks and feasibility/validation testing). Trained several analysts to perform data review for compendial and Empower data. My final year thesis was entitled “Validation of Protein Phosphatase 2A Assay (PP2A) for Assessing the Toxicity of the Algal Toxin, Okadaic Acid” and was completed as part fulfilment for my degree in Bsc Human & Animal Toxicology.
