About Niccola Shearman

I am an experienced lecturer with a PhD in the field of German twentieth-century art and a previous background in school teaching and translation. Committed to an interdisciplinary academic approach drawing on multiple strands of cultural history across the German-speaking lands, I am practised in teaching at BA and continuing-education levels and enjoy a good rapport with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. In the last year I have led academic study tours to both Munich and Vienna, concentrating on the development of modernism across art and architecture in the specific cultural context; both locations to be visited with further groups this coming year. Writing and editing form a strong thread throughout my career and studies: publications include academic articles, book reviews and works in translation. Adaptable, creative, seriously bookish and with a proven ability to inspire others, I would welcome the opportunity to build on my academic experience; and equally to engage with wider fields of cultural communication, curating and writing.
