About Nicholas Appelbaum
Passionate about improving medication safety and reducing preventable harm in the NHS. I’m the co-founder and CEO of Dosium - the only solution that integrates the British National Formulary (BNF) directly into electronic prescribing systems, providing patient-specific and indication-based dosing recommendations. Before Dosium, I worked clinically in general surgery in Cape Town and was motivated by the prevalence of drug error to move to the UK to complete my PhD in decision-support in medication safety, working alongside Lord Ara Darzi in the Patient Safety Research Centre at Imperial. In 2017, I started a groundbreaking CDS collaboration with the Royal Pharmaceutical Study to put the BNF at the heart of UK-centric medication safety software.
