Background
About Nicholas Carter
After serving many years in the Army I have experienced quite a diverse group of individuals. This diversity is in more than just physical appearance, religion, culture, and ethnicity. The most diversity I have encountered is in the intellectual spectrum and how people solve problems. Where there is a business or organization, there will be challenges. To see so many others tackle similar challenges in so many facets has been a wonderful learning experience in allowing me to become the critical thinker I am today. Joining the Army at the age of 17 with a waiver from my parents was a surreal experience and allowed me to be a part of a great team of great minds. I began early on as an Airborne Infantryman because I wanted to do a job that is unique to military service and have a large impact on the enemies of this nation. After serving for years in various positions in the field I decided it was time to take my newly gained leadership and critical thinking skills to a new domain. This domain was Air Defense. I chose to become the person who stood with any maneuvering force to ensure the safety of all those who wear the uniform. It has been an ever-expanding field in which I have learned an immense deal of radar theory, radio theory, simple networking, and advanced network architecture creation. I excelled in this protection warfighting function and got the chance to display my skills on a world scale while deployed to Iraq from 2020 until 2021. I served as an Early Warning Section Sergeant responsible for the safety of thousands of US and Coalition troops. I created multiple network designs to send data through numerous different systems around the entire Middle Eastern region. I also served in additional roles as an Air Defense planner for assets around the theater and was able to effectively place systems that protected US and coalition lives all throughout the theater. Moving on from that I was ordered to conduct a permanent change of station to Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington State where I currently serve. I have since been the "go-to" guy for just about everything that is expected of a Battalion organization including training management, resiliency training, travel management, Air Defense knowledge and innovation, enforcement and teaching of equal opportunity principles, and leading Soldiers.
