About Nicholas Cheng

During my youth, I dedicated myself passionately to two areas: Math Olympiads and competitive gaming. These pursuits allowed me to achieve notable accomplishments, such as earning a bronze medal in the Pan African Maths Olympiad in Tunisia and attaining top rankings on global leaderboards in various online games. I have found that the skills required for success in these hobbies align remarkably well with those valued in the field of software engineering: a natural curiosity, fast learning abilities, determination, logical reasoning, and focused dedication. Throughout my journey as a software engineer, I have had the privilege of working in various areas of the field. While my primary focus has been on backend development and devops, I have also delved into frontend work through personal projects. Drawing upon my experiences of working in two different continents and cultures, I have gained valuable insights into different perspectives and developed strong empathetic skills. This has greatly contributed to my ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and be a valuable team player.
