About Nicholas E.

I am a passionate leader and bold dreamer for historically marginalized students. My greatest pain point in education is that too many students internalize that they are the problem because they are not thriving in our current schooling structure. For me, this hits very close to home. As a kid, I believed that I was nothing more than "the bad kid," until 4th grade, when Ms. Brobston ignited my potential through agency, arts integration, and culturally responsive practices. Today, my autistic son is living in a world that sees his differences as something to correct as opposed to something for the world to learn, embrace, and adapt to. These experiences have shaped me as an educator. My purpose in education is to vindicate historically marginalized students and center the inherent worth and potential of every child. I do this by shining a light on inhibiting practices and cultivating learning environments where all students thrive through student-empowered learning, purpose-driven curriculum, and culturally responsive teaching.
