About Nicholas Hackenfort

As the Senior Manager of Risk Management at GXO Logistics, Inc, I play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our risk management strategies from the ground up. Since joining in November 2021, I’ve been integral to the creation and development of our Risk Management department, crafting comprehensive strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks across our global operations.My responsibilities include collaborating with safety, environmental, compliance, internal audit, business continuity planning (BCP), and legal teams to ensure a holistic approach to risk management. I also manage relationships with brokers, underwriters, and third-party vendors, and oversee cost-containment initiatives, risk assessments, and hazard analyses.Before joining GXO, I gained valuable experience at Verizon Communications Inc, where I managed significant insurance programs and supported the Zero-Based Budget initiative, achieving a significant reduction in third-party spend. At BASF, I handled the North America Marine & Inland Transit Insurance program and administered the Risk Management Information System (RMIS). My career began with The Hartford Financial Services Group, where I conducted detailed on-site audits of commercial insurance policies.I hold a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from the State University of New York at Oswego, a Graduate Certificate in Accounting from Seton Hall University, and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. I am currently pursuing an MBA with a concentration in Accounting from Seton Hall University, anticipated for Spring 2025.Driven by a passion for risk management and a commitment to excellence, I am dedicated to enhancing organizational resilience and optimizing insurance strategies to support our global business operations.
