About Nicholas Harrison

I have over 20 years experience as an urban planner working in numerous local government positions in statutory and strategic planning. I have an in-depth knowledge of current planning practice, planning policy and legislation including the Planning and Environment Act and the Victorian Planning Provisions. I also have extensive experience presenting to Council meetings and representing Councils at VCAT and undertaken all aspects of the appeal process including the preparation of cases, mediation hearings, practice day hearings and instructing and cross examining expert witnesses. Often these cases involved complex planning and legal issues. I was a senior planner at the Mornington Peninsula Shire for 11 years. As a senior planner at Mornington Peninsula Shire I was responsible for assessing and providing advice in relation to high level planning matters in the Mornington Activity Centre. As a contractor, I have successfully managed many large scale applications including multi storey mixed use developments, large scale industrial and commercial developments, nursing homes and retirement villages and large scale industrial and residential subdivisions.
