About Nicholas Hartman

I help make the University of Colorado a better place to learn, work, and to do business with. My practice consists of systemwide advisement of our four incredible campuses and ranges from legislative analysis and implementation to employment law and labor relations, contract review and administration including intricate understanding of FARs and DFARs, construction law, and governing board management. I pair deep government law knowledge with a more corporate, general counsel-type savvy to make the University a leader in the state in government and business. Prior to working with the University, I cut my teeth at the Denver City Attorney's Office working with City Council on legislative priorities as well as Municipal Operations on litigation matters, handling my own caseload of motions practice, predominately in the forms of subpoenas duces tecum; Boulder City Attorney's Office working on a wide variety of work including advising their sustainability initiatives and research real estate and water issues; the Governor's Office under Governor John Hickenlooper analyzing and researching policy during the 2015 legislative session; and the Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust helping to preserve land in the form of conservation easements for generations of Coloradans to enjoy in perpetuity.
