About Nicholas Hoefly

I’m Nick Hoefly, a Certified Master Beekeeper based in NYC. I co-founded Astor Apiaries, where we raise healthy honey bees, harvest high-quality raw honey, and teach people how to be better stewards of the natural world. We also run The Honey House, NYC’s first honey and beekeeping retail experience. Before bees, I worked in post-production and motion graphics. That creative and technical mindset now fuels my work as an entrepreneur and product developer. I built Appiary, a beekeeping app to help keepers track hive health, improve their beekeeping, and connect through a dedicated social network. Alongside running the apiary and shop, I’m active in building up the local beekeeping community as a club leader, event organizer, and educator. Whether it’s hosting honey tastings, teaching beginners, or managing rooftop hives across the city, I stay focused on what matters: healthy bees, honest products, and community-first growth. Always learning, always iterating. Let’s connect, especially if you’re into bees, small business, or building tools that help real people.
