About Nicholas Lee
Nick began his career in costs in 2001. He qualified as an Associate of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen in January 2009 and became a Fellow in January 2011. Following the Association being granted Reserved Legal activities under the Legal Services Act in 2007, he was admitted as a Costs Lawyer in 2011. The Association changes its name to the Association of Costs Lawyers from 2011. Nick worked in-house from 2001, attaining Associate status, Director of Costs and Fixed Share Partner for a Top 100 Law Firm. In 2011 Nick created Paragon Costs Solutions which now has offices in London and Bristol. Clients have included many Top 100 Law Firms, Local Authorities, Insurers and International Banks. In 2020 Nick created Legal Costs Resolutions which focuses on ADR in Costs Litigation. Nick joined as a Council member of Bristol Law Society in 2013. He subsequent was elected Treasurer in 2015, Junior Vice President in 2016 and Senior Vice President in 2017, paving the way for a Presidential year in 2018/19. Nick has sat on a number of boards including Bristol City Council's One City Economy Board and UWE's Law Advisory Board. He is a Trustee at Quartet Community Foundation (Deputy Chair and Chair of Finance and Investments) and Bristol Old Vic. Nick is frequent public speaker and is a CPD accredited Costs Lawyer. He has been invited to speak at litigation conferences for Bristol Law Society, Junior Lawyer Divisions, CILEX and other membership organisations. He is a Contributing Author for LexisNexis, presents Webinars for MBL and has also written articles for numerous publications. Nick is a keen advocate having conducted many Applications, Costs Case Management Conferences, Detailed Assessments and Appeals. Nick has represented clients in the County Court, High Court and Supreme Court, frequently appearing in the Senior Courts Costs Office. He has appeared before District Judges, Regional Cost Judges, High Court Judges and Masters. With his persistence and determination to achieve what he seeks, he is often commended by the Judges for his professional approach to advocacy. Nick is Ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners (2023 & 2024).
