About Nicholas McFarren

I am an individual who cares about community. Through my personal and professional experiences, I have learned and witnessed the importance of building strong connections between people and the role public engagement plays in the success of a community, whether it be a small town or a large city. Additionally, I firmly believe in the potential of community-based nonprofit organizations to ignite, mobilize, and channel civic pride. I currently have been given the opportunity to exercise these beliefs through my position as the Outreach Library Assistant at the Orrville Public Library. The OPL has a long history of being a landmark institution in Downtown Orrville and as a centerpiece of community engagement, and I get to be an integral part of stewarding and growing this reputation. I utilize my connections within the Orrville City Schools, the local government, the city's highly involved business sector, and area nonprofits to heighten public awareness of the many services the OPL offers to our patrons. In turn, I also learn what gaps need filled and discover the Library's responsibility in meeting community needs. My job has allowed me to give back to the community that has given me so much, and I look forward to being on the forefront of fostering the growth of our unique city and establishing what the future of Orrville will look like.
