I'm an early career scientist with research experience in plant biology, plant pathology, and entomology. As a Research Technician I at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, I work on the characterization of genetically and epigenetically modified cassava for Cassava bacterial blight resistance in the lab of Dr. Rebecca Bart. I also act as the Safety Coordinator for the Bart Lab. I received a B.S. in Applied Biotechnology from Auburn University in 2023. There, I spent several years in entomology labs, researching cotton leafroll dwarf virus transmission by cotton-melon aphids with Dr. Alana Jacobson, Dr. Kathleen Martin, and Dr. Chaoyang Zhao. In 2022, I spent two months in the lab of Dr. Marc Fuchs with Dr. Victoria Hoyle researching the transmission of grapevine red blotch virus by three-cornered alfalfa hoppers. I have over three years of experience in molecular biology labs, where I've learned skills including nucleotide extraction, PCR, qPCR, cDNA synthesis, bacteria and yeast transformation, cloning, and yeast two-hybrid. I also have experience with micropropagation, plant and insect rearing, insect dissection, and scientific writing.
