About Nicholas Oneal

After many years of wanting to start my own business, I have finally taken steps toward learning how. My efforts have culminated in the founding of the J. H. Belz Company, LLC with my co-founder, and best friend, Benjamin Stanfield. The J. H. Belz Company, LLC was named as such in honor of the J. H. Belz Provision Company which was located in downtown St. Louis, MO. Founded by my third great granduncle (on my paternal grandmother's side), John Herman Belz, in 1883 and operated until 1939 when it filed for bankruptcy. The purpose of the J. H. Belz Company, LLC is to establish and operate a board game themed restaurant in St. Clair, MO. Operating under the fictitious name, Smorgas-Boards, we will serve a menu of unique items including new takes on classic menu items and appetizers, along with beverages both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Pair this with a collection of hundreds of board and card games to play while you dine and private game room (made available by reservation) and you have a uniquely entertaining establishment in a community that desperately needs such an outlet. Our mission: Smorgas-Boards strives to provide an atmosphere that caters to family and friends around fun and good food- I have worked in the library world for some 15+ years now and have had many positions. Since 2012, I've been in the professional librarian realm and have a proven record of providing excellent Customer Service. I am a strong leader with a commitment to innovation, creativity, communication, and professionalism. I know hoe to see the "Big Picture" and use critical thinking skills to ensure the best outcomes. Over the years I've designed and built a stellar website, which MOREnet raved as "the cream of the crop of MOREnet sites!" I've worked on Strategic Planning and run many committees / task forces to accomplish the many goals of my organization. I've improved services to better fit the needs of my community - adopting a 1-on-1 tech help session model over traditional computer classes, implemented 3D printing and devised a method for increasing use dramatically. A recent service that I am quite proud of is the creation of a VHS to DVD Conversion service for our patrons which has converted tapes for patrons in the last five years. I also have a published article in the June 2019 issue of Computers in Libraries entitled,"From VHS to DVD: How We Help Patrons Digitize Their Memories". I love what I do and enthusiastically share my passions and knowledge with anyone who seeks it.
