About Nicholas Perkins

As a technical leader and innovator in electrochemistry, my mission is to build the technologies that will electrify heavy industry and redefine our energy infrastructure. I thrive at the intersection of deep science and market strategy, translating first-of-a-kind electrochemical breakthroughs into commercially viable products. My journey has taken me from complex lifetime modeling of lithium-ion cells at Tesla to spearheading the core technology of the Iron-air battery at Form Energy. At Form, I've led pivotal projects across anode structure, cell design, and operational strategy that were instrumental to the first commercial product—increasing battery lifetime by an order of magnitude and significantly boosting round-trip efficiency. In my current New Product Development role, I operate as an entrepreneur-in-residence, identifying how our own technology as well as novel electrochemical systems can create new markets for energy storage and industrial decarbonization. I am looking to leverage my experience in building and scaling novel electrochemical systems in the next step of my career. I'm eager to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors who are passionate about solving the world's hardest climate tech challenges.
