About Nicholas Shaffmaster

Having transitioned out of the Oil and Gas industry in 2020 I have applied my skills to fulfillment and now production facilities. While the environment may be different, the overall responsibilities remain the same.Immediately prior to this transition I was a Safety Advisor with Steel Energy in ND. The majority of my time was spent observing and coaching our crews operating workover rigs at various field locations around the Williston Basin.Prior to this I had spent the majority of 2016-2018 attached to SAExploration operations in the Arctic region providing geophysical services for ConocoPhillips Alaska. The location of these operations presented many challenges for logistics and oversight. Through effective teamwork and communication we were able to deploy our resources to the field and successfully provide HES QC support. My responsibilities have varied greatly in my roles but have covered such topics as: HES Plan Development, Project Risk Assessment Development, JSA Coaching and Leading, Toolbox and Safety meeting presentation, and Incident Investigation and Reporting. In my role as an advisor I have also delivered trainings on such topics as; Lock Out- Tag Out, Working at Heights, Motor Vehicle Safety, PPE use and maintenance and First aid. I continue to seek out opportunities that will challenge my abilities and knowledge. Continual improvement is important to professional development and thus I strive to constantly adapt and overcome. I remain flexible and open to new opportunities within the HES community as I develop professionally.
