About Nicholas Shaw

I’m a Security, Emergency and risk management professional with a demonstrated background in identifying the underlying cause of risk and implementing strategies to address and minimise it. I’ve undertaken study in the fields of Family/Domestic violence, Private Security, Corrections, Emergency Management, Risk Management, Community and Customer Service with a strong focus on finding ways to continuously improve myself and be adaptive whist keeping the service I provide customer-centric, to a high standard and within expected and achievable time frames. Within the Domestic/Family Violence field I’ve worked collaboratively with key stakeholders to provide fast and effective risk management solutions, I’ve worked on several media projects to highlight the dangers of Technology Facilitated Abuse such as “See what you made me do” on SBS and in print, on the ABC and Channel 9 and have featured in several print media articles surrounding the use and dangers of tracking technology in Family Violence situations. By regularly removing Tracking devices, hidden cameras, microphones and intrusive spyware from mobile phones and additionally addressing other account based infiltrations that we frequently see occurring in this field, my role at Protective Group has helped me to educate and empower people through identification of Technology Facilitated Abuse, Removal of the methods used (where safe to do so) and by giving specific training to clients so that they can prevent or reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Working with knowledge of the “perpetrators handbook” or pattern of abuse that are frequently seen when coercive control is used and having a Trauma informed approach by being mindful of the trauma reactions that can present when people who have been in DV/FV situations and the response of the human brain through the amygdala to identified threats. It is my belief that treating everyone with respect whilst being able to take responsibility for your own actions and decisions is fundamental to any successful workplace relationship.
