About Nicholas Tamarkin

I received my MFA in Directing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002 and my PhD in Comparative Literature from Washington University in St. Louis in 2015. I have been a full-time faculty member in secondary education at several Title I schools, including roles as an English teacher at La Vega High School in Waco, TX, and both Collegiate and McKinley High Schools in St. Louis, MO. I have also held positions at the university level, including Michigan State University, Lindenwood University, and Webster University. Currently, I am a full-time English and Theater instructor at Seattle University. I also do remote work for international undergraduate students by providing teacher education classes. I began my professional life as an actor in Equity theater and on Broadway. After expanding my field of vision by becoming a professional director, I realized that teaching is and has always been my true passion. I love teaching AP English classes, university-level playwriting classes, and acting and directing classes.
