About Nicholas White

I fell into data by accident! Originally, I got into IT by way of a hobby (making computers talk to synthesizers and drum machines) while living in France, and computers helped pay the rent more than teaching English did. Several jobs later, I found myself at a business college assisting CIS and stats professors create videos for their machine learning and data viz classes, and I actually enjoyed and understood what they were talking about. On the advice of one of the professors, I entered the Masters of Business Analytics program and was asked to join the Business Intelligence team. I love being a BI Analyst, working with data and all the systems and toys associated with data. I love playing with all the tools, getting all the systems to talk to each other, moving data from place to place, making it useful for people and department, making their jobs easier. I love getting together with the key players in the business units to scratch out ideas about how to solve a problem using data, how to build a cool dashboard that makes them look like rockstars in leadership meetings, how to add a tweak to an existing dashboard to make it so much more useful.
