About Nick Barnets

Currently, I work as a freelance investment writer at CopyLab Ltd. I'm also the founder and host of the Global Niko Travel channel on YouTube. I have an MA degree in Political Science from Syracuse University, where I specialized in international relations, with a concentration on foreign policy analysis, political leadership, European politics, and qualitative research methods. My regional focus is Greece, Cyprus, the eastern Mediterranean, and the European Union as a decision unit of foreign policy. I also assisted in the instruction of an undergraduate course on European integration. Prior to that I worked as foreign correspondent based in Athens, Greece, where I reported on the Greek debt crisis, and all associated political and social fallout. I also covered the migration crisis of 2015 & 2016, Cyprus reunification efforts, and other current affairs across the eastern Mediterranean and Europe for major news outlets, which included CBS News, BBC, Al Jazeera, Deutsche Welle, Radio France Internationale, and the International Business Times. Besides doing my own reporting, I also worked as a field producer and translator for major media outlets covering news in Greece. I've also worked as an election researcher and assistant producer at CBS News headquarters in New York. During this time I also worked with CBS News' foreign editorial desk assisting in coverage of the Greek debt crisis, the Arab Spring, and logistics associated with the deployment of editorial teams to the field around the world. I also have local news experience, having worked as a photographer and field producer for NY1, New York City's local 24-hour TV news channel, covering current events and breaking news throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
