About Benner Elementary & Bellefonte School District - I was hired in March of 2013 full time as a Math Intervention Specialist to assist struggling primary students at Pleasant Gap and Benner Elementary schools as well as a Math Intervention class for sixth grade students. I was then moved to Marion-Walker Elementary into a classroom position in fourth grade in January of 2014 until the end of the school. Since the 2014-15 school year I am a classroom teacher in 5th grade at Benner Elementary. The first year I was teaching in a self-contained all subject classroom. Last year we moved to departmentalization and am now teaching language arts and writing to two fifth grade classes. Prior to turning my career towards education I served as the assistant and then head video coordinator for the Penn State Football team. From 1995 until 2008 I was responsible for student interns, shooting and editing all in-house footage, and servicing and maintaining football complex non-linear video editing system. During this period of time I went to twelve bowl games and over two hundred regular season games. My working career began in radio where I served as an on-air talent at stations in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. My fiancee, Mardi McDonough, is also a teacher in the State College School District. I have one daughter, Sierra, who is a student at University of Pittsburgh, a step-daughter, Colleen, a sophomore at Temple and Grace who is a junior in high school. I coach the Bellefonte girls junior high soccer team and have also coached girls basketball and boys middle school track and field. When I have spare time, I am out fly-fishing or working out at my gym.
