About Nick Foster

I am a New Zealand Qualified and Registered Electrical Inspector, and Industrial Technician & Electrician. An Industrial specialist, that is passionate and self motivated. With over 20 years experience in marine & defence, industrial, dairy, food & beverage, oil & gas, and water industry. Experience ranges in project installation, commissioning, fault finding and diagnostics, training and also hazardous areas. My passion and specialty for over a decade is working with Variable Speed Drives, Soft Starters, Motor Control & Monitoring. Where I have been employed by two large manufacturers ABB and Schneider Electric. I have worked on some large and small scale projects across New Zealand, installing and commissioning VSDs and Soft starters from small kW sizes to MW. I have also worked on a variety of products from HV switchboards & vacuum breakers, LV switchboards and MCCs, Air Circuit Breaker’s & Molded Case Circuit Breakers (ACBs & MCCBs), power factor and harmonic mitigation units, transformers, and EV charging stations. I have provided services related to the products such as, power quality audits, thermal imaging, asset audits & data collection for discrimination and arc flash studies. I am passionate about training the next generation and I believe strongly in electrical health & safety. Sharing information and communication with in industry is very important to make positive change’s in our industry for the future.
