About Nick Guy

I am a Research Scientist at the Verisk Weather Solutions, working on algorithm development to refine and improve industry leading weather products for a variety of customers. I am part of a dynamic team including scientists and software engineers with varying degrees of customer-facing roles. I develop software for both research and production environments in a dynamic, fast-moving company on cloud-based platforms. My research interests are on the physics of weather and the remote and in-situ instruments involved in collecting data applying both traditional scientific as well as data anlytics methods. I have an expertise in weather radar and applications. I have studied the characteristics of precipitating and non-precipitating cloud systems from the scale of individual cloud and precipitation droplets up to large convective systems that cover hundreds of kilometers. I have experience developing and serving products to customers in both the research and commercial spaces. These include precipitation and hail estimations, wind retrievals, turbulence estimates as well as many research project datasets.
