About Nick Hancock

Nick specialises in the valuation of residential property in Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Scottish Borders, including country houses, castles and small estates. Nick sits on DM Hall's Business Development Committee, and has been instrumental in enlarging the company’s client base by networking with legal firms and banks, generating new income streams for DM Hall from these clients, including Brodies, Burness Paull, Lomond Capital, Savills and Rettie & Co. Historically, as a Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor, Nick undertook the identification, appraisal and valuation of residential and residential-led development sites, site sales, land assembly and site acquisition in London and the South East, including the Thames Gateway and 2012 Olympics hinterland. Nick graduated with a degree in Environmental Geography from the University of London, with a bias towards ecology and species reintroduction; his dissertation was on the feasibility of wolf reintroduction to Scotland, long before the concept of rewilding and predator reintroduction was being openly discussed. Nick was awarded Adventurer of the Year in 2015 for his record breaking of occupation of Rockall in the North Atlantic.
