Aikomi is an ex-pharma spin-out company developing digital therapies for dementia to support person centred care and improve the quality of lives of people with dementia, their families and care givers. In collaboration with a cross-disciplinary partnership ecosystem, Aikomi has developed a technology platform to provide personalized multi-sense cognitive stimulation programs that are tailored by proprietary AI to the individual characteristics, life story and responses of the person with dementia. In trials in Japan and Australia, these tablet-based tools have been shown to promote communication and engagement with people with dementia and may have potential provide psychological care and reduce care burden. Aikomi has formed partnership with a leading Japanese care provider and a pharma company to conduct clinical development and commercialize the Aikomi platform. First market launch is planned for early 2021 as an application for care homes and families in Japan. In parallel, a clinical path will be pursued to develop the world`s first regulatory approved digital therapy for BPSD (behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia). The vison of Aikomi is to use its personalized communication technology to enhance mutuality in the care relationship which is a key building block to creating sustainable solutions for dementia care.
