About Nick Latta

With influences like James Taylor, The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, Singer/Songwriter Nick Latta's musical style is soulful; a blend of soft rock with an inimitable improvisational element. Songwriting is his therapy, inspiring Nick to pen works that reflect real-life experiences, capturing within them the scope and essence of the human condition. Through powerful lyrics and earthy, resonant vocals Nick is capable of affecting audiences wherever he goes. His passion for writing had been steadily emerging since he joined his first band, a three-part harmony group known as 'Mother of Pearl', in 1998. As his musical aspirations grew Nick sought new opportunities and joined 'This Side of 5', a harmony based vocal group which offered him the freedom to write original lyrics. For three years the group performed throughout Sydney in such venues as The Basement. Not satisfied, and the urge to discover his full potential as an artist resulted in Nick making the decision to leave the group, in order to pursue a solo career. As a solo artist in Sydney, he enjoyed a certain level of success, but after twelve months of performing in the Sydney scene Nick was eager to explore new opportunities, such as the invitation to perform at Caloundra Music Festival in 2009. Nick played alongside artists such as Bertie Blackman, Bob Evans, Toni Childs and The Hoodoo Gurus inspiring him to take on new opportunities and move to Queensland. It was in Queensland that his career as a solo performer really began to take shape and where his confidence and determination grew. Nick entered the 'King or Queen of Song' contest, an event held annually in Noosa, Queensland and was consequently crowned King in both 2009 and 2010 - a feat unrivalled by any other artist in the competition's history. He was also awarded regional champion for the 'Vibetone Originals' songwriting event in 2009, before moving back to Sydney to record his first album,"Filling the Void", produced by Mario Millo.
