About Nick Melnick

Building on over twenty years of technology leadership and engineering experience across commerce, finance, compliance, and health, leads technology organizations and distributed teams to deliver disruptive and innovative solutions to accelerate new products or rekindle "legacy" technologies by fixing the plane mid-flight. Equally focused on the why and the how, has a successful record developing strategy, team cohesion, best practices, and cross-functional communication to solve technical and business challenges providing the right product to the right customers. I am a technologist and tinkerer at heart, and use that experience to help guide teams through challenges that seem insurmountable, and bridge gaps between engineering, operations, product, and leadership to focus on common goals. Leveraging my experience in both creating and modernizing by transforming teams, processes, and thinking at a foundational level, I partner with leaders to achieve continuous, agile delivery of the right product. I am a strong believer in human-centric leadership, allowing teams to know what needs to be done and have the freedom to do the right thing with a guiding hand. Everyone at the table, leaders to customers, have needs that need to be met. The most successful organizations understand that the best solution takes all into account. I've led fundamental product shifts and fixed plenty of legacy work, written scalable software across the stack, followed and broke trends, and found new ways to solve problems. While I've seen my share of startups, buyouts, and huge companies, I've loved every minute of it, and I'm always looking for the "next new thing"​ in technology while keeping focus on making things better. I emphasize the bigger picture, without locking myself into a language, technology, or fad. I am always open to coffee or chats about opportunities you'd like to discuss, never hesitate to reach out. I currently reside in Toronto, Ontario, and am eligible to work in the US and Canada.
