About Nick Night

Artist+Curator+Technician OAK>YVR>LAX>PDX I am a filmmaker and artist with a BFA in Film/Video from Emily Carr University. On nearly every project I have produced thus far, I have maintained the majority of creative control through writing, directing, cinematography, and picture editing. My inspiration comes from the surreal, the banal, and the feelings of dreams. Immersion in these feelings is key in my body of work, supported by a strong aesthetic sense developed over almost a decade of instruction within a contemporary arts setting. Upon discovering the raw creative potential of stereoscopic cinema, coupled with its immersive qualities, I dove head-first into the medium. Courses, workshops, research, and an internship with the s3D centre at ECU all prepared me to create my thesis film “HOTBOX”, which screened at LA 3-D Movie Festival and at 3D Korea International Film Festival in 2014. My latest VR experience "Maypole" was produced in conjunction with the Scottish Fashion Creative Network and The Biscuit Factory in Edinburgh. Most recently, I launched the Los Angeles-based RAW Film Festival in association with RAW: natural born artists. As the founder/director, I discovered my love for curating content and supporting emerging artists.
