About Nick Niles

Energy sector digital transformation projects often stall—not because of technical limitations, but because stakeholders can't align on what success looks like. I help utilities, grid operators, and energy companies get everyone on the same page before expensive development begins, using high-fidelity prototyping as a strategic alignment tool. I spent 5+ years as a Senior Digital Product Designer at Axpo (Switzerland's largest energy producer), where I designed customer portals, energy trading dashboards, and internal process optimization tools. I've worked on complex B2B platforms where getting traders, engineers, customer experience teams, and executives aligned was just as important as the design itself. My approach focuses on: • Strategic discovery and stakeholder interviews to uncover hidden assumptions • High-fidelity prototyping that forces concrete decisions (not abstract debates) • Workshop facilitation that builds shared understanding across departments • Visual artifacts that executives can use to secure buy-in and budget I work with utilities, Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs), grid operators, and energy tech companies navigating customer portal redesigns, trading platform modernization, and digital transformation initiatives. If your digital transformation project feels stuck in stakeholder misalignment, let's talk. I offer a focused diagnostic engagement to identify gaps and chart a path forward. nick@tassu.net
