About Nick Oberlander

I love filmmaking, visual storytelling, and producing animated, stop motion, live action, and hybrid films from pre- to post-production. With more than a decade of production experience, I’m a blend of technical and creative, of production and artistry, of individual contributor and team lead. After getting my BFA in Film and New Media, I moved to Los Angeles and freelanced in film and television on jobs that ranged from set electrician, lighting, and gaffer to cinematographer for the first original film to premiere on Hulu. I learned so much in those years where every day was different. For the last 8 years, I’ve worked in Visual Effects, VFX Coordination, and Motion Graphics for studios producing stop motion animation, live action, hybrid, and puppetry, including all four seasons of Amazon Prime’s Emmy Award-winning children’s series Tumble Leaf and Hulu’s shows Crossing Swords and Solar Opposites. I describe myself as a fun, nerdy collaborator and supportive teammate who gets along with everyone. I’m confident enough to lead and organize crews, detailed and technical enough to be hands-on, and versatile enough to work on projects with many moving parts. I manage both personal and team-based projects and maintain digital assets to keep production moving. And I am able to simultaneously dream creatively and stay grounded to get things done right, down to the details.
