About Nick Ormesher

With five years professional experience specialising in the education and residential sectors and having recently completed an Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Architecture I am looking to build my career in architectural practice. Throughout my education in architecture and my professional career, I have showed great interest and aptitude in designing within areas of unique vernacular identity and most significantly within the historic built environment. These interests became most vivid during completion of the MArch course at Manchester School Architecture where I had the opportunity to work within the historic setting of Fez Medina. The Medina was the setting for a good deal of my project work and provided the basis for a Dissertation study which sought to investigate the significance of foreign property ownership on the preservation of the historic environment. I was consequently asked to work on an EU funded project investigating the restoration of historic Hammams across North Africa. In my professional career I have been fortunate to work on numerous projects with unique local contexts, these have ranged in size and value from small scale domestic works to rural properties, church alternations and refurbishments, large scale listed buildings and education projects in green belt or English Heritage protected land.
