Background
About Nick Pearce
My name is Nick Pearce, and I am a 35 year-old educator currently living in Adelaide. I currently hold the tenure of the Senior Leader (Aboriginal Learner Achievement) at Murray Bridge High School (MBHS). Prior to this role, I have held several leadership positions at MBHS, including Aboriginal Pathways Leader and SAASTA Coordinator in 2024, Year 10 Pathways Leader in 2023, and Middle School Pathways Leader and Leader for Culture in 2022. Alongside my leadership roles, I teach Health and Physical Education and SAASTA (Aboriginal Education).I graduated from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and a Bachelor of Health Sciences. Before entering the teaching profession, I worked in the building industry, completing an apprenticeship as a Painter and Decorator before progressing into a supervisory role within a painting firm. This career provided me with strong practical and interpersonal skills, which continue to positively influence my teaching practice and leadership approach.Growing up in regional South Australia, I developed a strong passion for sport and remain heavily involved in Australian Rules Football. I have played football at a semi-professional level, including league football in the SANFL, and have also coached and captained an A-grade football team. These experiences have allowed me to contribute meaningfully to community sport while supporting the development of young people both on and off the field.I believe my diverse life experiences through sport and the workforce have helped me develop the attributes essential to being an effective educator and leader. My greatest strengths lie in my ability to build strong, respectful relationships with students and staff. Culturally Responsive Pedagogy underpins my teaching practice, and I have led the successful implementation of this approach across the entire MBHS site.
