About Nick Ramdass

Across Canada, too many young people are growing up without access to the opportunities, support, and recognition they deserve. Racialized youth face barriers in education and employment. 2SLGBTQ+ youth are still navigating unsafe or unsupportive environments. Newcomer and low-income communities often lack access to mental health resources, community infrastructure, and culturally responsive programming. These inequities aren’t isolated - they’re built into systems that too often overlook or undervalue entire groups of people. The organizations I’ve worked with, Pride Toronto, Actua, Friendly Times, and the Social Planning Council of Ottawa, are working to change that. They create space where youth feel seen and heard, where identity and community are sources of strength, and where systemic barriers are challenged, not just acknowledged. My role in that work has always been about collaboration: building trust, forming partnerships, and helping create the conditions for lasting impact. My focus is on helping communities build power, not just receive support. That means listening deeply, advocating for long-term investment, and pushing institutions to move beyond performative gestures toward real, measurable change. I believe the people most affected by inequity should be the ones shaping the solutions. I see my job as making sure those voices have the platform, resources, and respect they need.
