Background

About Nick Schell

I began my career in financial services in 2004 after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. In 2006, I joined Merrill Lynch, where I spent nearly two decades advising individuals and families with complex financial needs. Over time, I advanced to Senior Vice President at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, focusing on long-term strategy, risk management, and building trusted client relationships. While I’m proud of my career in wealth management, my work was always driven by a deeper interest in markets, data, probability, and decision-making under uncertainty. In August 2025, after nearly 20 years at Merrill Lynch, I left my full-time role to pursue entrepreneurship. I am the co-founder of BTA Sports, a company started with my neighbor and business partner, Tyler Fox. As Head of Growth and Corporate Partnerships, I lead go-to-market strategy, strategic partnerships, and revenue development, while helping define the company’s long-term vision. At BTA Sports, I apply an institutional, data-driven mindset to building scalable products and creating durable competitive advantages at the intersection of sports, analytics, and technology.
