About Nick Tessalone

As a senior manager in EY’s Minneapolis office, I have spent the last 12 years serving clients in the wealth and asset management sector. I began my career in EY’s New York office, where I was able to gain hands-on experience in one of the leading financial markets in the world and began specializing in providing audit and other assurance-related services to asset managers, mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity funds, and broker-dealers. When I transferred to the Minneapolis office with my family in 2011, I leveraged and expanded my expertise by leading engagement teams and managing all phases of audits for registered and non-registered fund complexes with assets under management ranging from under $500 million to over $16 billion. As part of the executive team at EY, I have developed a deep understanding of technical matters within the asset management practice. My years of experience leading multiple engagement teams often situated in multiple cities has also helped me develop my interpersonal skills and allowed me to sharpen my project management and team leadership capabilities. I have a proven ability to develop trusting and credible client relationships, which is one of the aspects I enjoy most about the work that I do. I have advised clients through various accounting and financial reporting matters, including topics such as: investment company accounting matters, fair value of investments and derivatives, transfers of financial assets, stock-based compensation, fund mergers, liquidation basis of accounting and revenue recognition. My experience with a variety of financial entities and mentorship experienced while at EY has enabled me to able to cultivate and provide leading insights and best practices with respect to these topics. Additionally, I have become involved in the Minneapolis community by helping initiate and launch the College MAP (Mentoring for Access and Persistence) program within the EY Minneapolis office and have served as a director within the program for four years. College MAP pairs EY employee volunteers with juniors and seniors in underserved high schools to assist them in gaining access to college and help prepare them with the tools necessary to succeed in higher education, and has proven to be an incredibly rewarding aspect of my career.
