About Nick Tuck

AboutI am a secondary school Head of Science with a strong interest in how technology can support teaching, learning and leadership in practical ways.Over the past decade I have led large science teams, most recently a department of 17 teachers and 4 technicians. During this time I have focused on building strong systems for curriculum design, assessment and professional collaboration. In 2024 our GCSE results reached their highest levels to date.Alongside departmental leadership, I have been particularly interested in how digital tools can improve the day-to-day work of teachers. I helped pioneer the use of Google tools within our school to streamline communication, curriculum planning and resource sharing across the department.More recently I have been exploring the emerging role of AI in education. My focus is not on replacing teaching, but on identifying practical workflows where tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and NotebookLM can reduce administrative workload — particularly around feedback, revision resources and departmental systems.Alongside my school leadership role, I also work as an Edexcel assessor, giving me detailed insight into examination standards, mark schemes and examiner expectations.I am interested in opportunities to contribute more broadly to conversations around science education, teacher workload, and the thoughtful use of technology in schools.
